    Description

    Vintage Hawaiian Milo Wood
    6-3/4" Diameter Bowl by Blair
Here is one of those handmade souvenirs from Hawaii that is a real treasure! This bowl was made by Blair Ltd. of Waianae, Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands. This beautiful bowl has a wonderful semi-gloss hand-rubbed finish and is made by the master woodturner Millard Blair, probably in the 1960s. Blair opened the first large wood turning and wood carving facility in 1945 on Oahu and continued production until the mid 1980s. They made many items from exotic woods such as koa, milo, tulip, teak and more.
Made of Milo Wood, this handcrafted bowl has the color of a lighter rosewood or tulip wood. It has some light surface wear and slight lines in the wood, but Milo is such a tight grain wood that it does not have any discernable cracks - the varying veins of darker tones make for a richly colored bowl.
The bowl is about 3/8 inch thick, 6-3/4 inches in diameter and is 3 inches high. The bottom of the bowl is hand etched with "Blair, Hawaii, Milo Wood."
